My research interests are in the area of trace metal and carbon cycling in the ocean. My Masters work focused on biological aspects of trace metal and carbon use in coccolithophores. I am now working on iron and carbon remineralization in the upper ocean for my PhD thesis at Berkeley, focusing on geochemical analyses of marine particulates. I am also developing the use of synchrotron x-ray techniques to probe the distribution and speciation of particulate iron.
